Infection Preventionist RN
As a Company Infection Preventionist, you are entrusted with the responsibility of caring for our residents, families, coworkers, visitors, and all others; as well as demonstrating in all interactions, the Company’s core values. The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Infection Control and Prevention Program in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our center and as may be directed by the Medical Director or Director of Nursing to ensure that the center provides a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help prevent and control the development and transmission of communicable
diseases and infections. You are entrusted to provide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas and concepts that continually improve infection control and prevention systems and processes to achieve superior results.

The Infection Preventionist is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the functions for the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) .Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Oversight of the IPCP to include:a. Preventing, identifying, controlling, reporting and investigating infections and communicable diseases forall residents, staff and visitors of the centers following local, state and national guidelines as well asrecognized best practices.b. Education, enforcement and reinforcement of the written standards of the program as outlined in theInfection Control Policies and Procedures and as directed by the center Infection Control Program RiskAssessment.c. Maintain a system of surveillance to identify and prevent spread of infections to other persons within thecenter.d. Appropriately report communicable disease to the local, state and federal authorities as directed byregulation and law.e. Identify, enforce, observe, and reinforce appropriate transmission based and standard precautions withinthe center.f. Monitor the appropriate use of isolation within the center to reduce the risk of spread based on theorganism and type of infection using the least restrictive measures possible to maintain the resident’shighest level of practicable well-being
Collaborate with center leadership and the medical director to develop, implement, evaluate and re-evaluate the annual infection control and prevention goals and plans.
Assess employees with open lesions or communicable disease for ability to work and any limitations or restrictions
Record, track and trend surveillance and investigation of infections; and actions taken to prevent and control spread of infections and report to center QAPI committee
Education Requirements
Registered Nurse (RN)
Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Diploma with associated RN license from an accredited college or university.
Certificate/diploma or degree in nursing, or Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in microbiology or epidemiology; or Associate’s degree (orhigher) in medical technology or clinical laboratory science; or completion of training in another related field such as that for physicians,pharmacists, and physician’s assistants.
Certification in Infection Control as specified by Appendix PP at F880 is required prior to assuming the role in infectionprevention and control.
Licensed Practical Nurse
Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Diploma with associated LPN license from an accredited college or university.
Certificate/diploma or degree in nursing, or Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in microbiology or epidemiology; or Associate’s degree (orhigher) in medical technology or clinical laboratory science; or completion of training in another related field such as that for physicians,pharmacists, and physician’s assistants.
